Senate candidate Michael Walsh calls for an apology from opponent Mike Rush

In his interview with the editorial board for the Community Newspapers Company (posted August 30, 2010), my opponent Mike Rush was asked about debating me, Michael F. Walsh. I have outspokenly requested several debates prior to the democratic primary on September 14th. Rush responded:

“Going to Dunkin Donuts and (having) a street brawl debate, I don’t think that anyone benefits from it.”

Those words are condescending and egotistical, especially since on September 1, 2010, I attended a candidate forum for the Suffolk and Norfolk District Senate seat hosted by the Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham, moderated by Dorothy Kelly-Gay, a respected professional and former Mayor of Somerville.

Brad Williams Comments on Rep. Mike Rush’s Lack of Accessibility

Mike Walsh recently criticized Rep. Mike Rush’s lack of responsiveness. We contacted the other candidates in this race, Brad Williams and Mike Rush for their reaction. Brad Williams answered today:

Thanks for the chance to comment. I have lived in Representative Rush’s district for the last 15 years. Representative Rush has been in office for seven years, but it was only last December as he planned a state senate run that Representative Rush opened up a district office and set up a functional website for the community.

Mike Walsh challenges Rep. Mike Rush on lack of accessibility to voters

Mike Walsh is a candidate for the State Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Marian Walsh. His competitor for the Democratic primary is Rep. Mike Rush. In a message to us, Mr. Walsh notes the Mike Rush’s campaign web site doesn’t list any contact info, and questions if Mike Rush will be similarly inaccessible as a senator. Mike Walsh’s message follows:

In the Democratic Primary on Tuesday September 14,  two individuals are seeking to replace Marian Walsh as your next state senator.  Mike Rush, an incumbent state representative for West Roxbury, and Michael Walsh an attorney representing injured workers and their families for 22 years.

Mike Walsh Announces Candidacy for Suffolk and Norfolk State Senate

Attorney Mike Walsh, Democract from Westwood, officially announced his candidacy for the Suffolk and Norfolk State Senate District. (Westwood, Norwood, Dedham, West Roxbury, Roslindale and Hyde Park )
