State Representative candidate Dan Winslow today called on the Legislative leadership to reconvene the legislative session and finish work on the proposal to allow slot machines at state racetracks. Winslow’s statement came in response to news that Plainridge Racecourse today laid off 10% of its workforce, or 157 jobs, because the Democratic majority cannot agree on the best approach to gaming for the state.
“The Legislature plans to take the next five months off from formal sessions,” said Winslow, “but so much work remains to be done. The Legislature should return from its summer vacation to finish work on the gaming legislation to save jobs. Jobs are Job One in this economy and we need legislators willing to work hard for job creation in the Commonwealth.”
