Ian Davis Launches Write-in Campaign for Bob Nyman's 5th Plymouth District

[ed_note]We received the following press release from Ian Davis, who is announcing his write-in candidacy for the 5th Plymouth. This is an unusual race in that the leading candidate, Rep. Bob Nyman, passed unexpectedly after the filing deadline leaving an opportunity for field of  young challengers. Race profile here.[/ed_note]

Ian Davis

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for State Representative in the 5th District of Plymouth County. I believe it is time for my generation to start carrying the torch and to work hard to see that government is responsive to you, the voters of this district.

You deserve a state representative who is energized to do the job, someone who will work a 12-hour day serving you and someone who will listen and respond to your concerns. I want to be that person.

I am a lifelong resident of Norwell. At an early age, I became involved in the town, helping my dad organizing the parade for the Norwell Town Fair, volunteering with the Norwell Men’s Club and the Norwell Little League.

As a student in the Norwell Public Schools, I received an excellent education, which prepared me well for college. During my junior year at Quinnipiac University, I was selected to serve as a legislative intern in the Connecticut House of Representatives. After graduating from college in 2008, with a degree in Criminal Justice, I worked on a congressional campaign and volunteered on other campaigns in Connecticut and Massachusetts. These experiences have shaped my interest and my desire to make government work for people.

As you well know, in the past few years, the economy crashed, beginning an unprecedented recession, which put thousands of Massachusetts residents out of work. I was also unemployed and eventually started my own painting business and supplementing my income by being a substitute teacher and working at a summer camp. I am currently working part time in retail and I am grateful to have a part time job.

I am running for state representative because I want to work for you, the residents of Hanover, Norwell and Rockland. I will bring energy, enthusiasm and a commitment to make thoughtful decisions that are in the best interests of the people in this district. I would ask you to consider me as your choice for state representative in November.
