On Sunday, August 29, 2010, Dick Moody, of Danvers, spoke to the Beverly Republican City Committee at their monthly meeting about Operation: Troop Support. Retired Colonel Moody explained how important it is to keep Care Packages going overseas to our men and women in uniform. These small items will make daily life a little easier in Iraq and Afghanistan and give our soldiers an important psychological lift from fellow Americans. With the holiday season rapidly approaching, Richard Jolitz, candidate for State Senate in the 2nd Essex district, immediately enlisted the help of the BRCC and its Cabot Street Campaign Headquarters to accept donations and host an event with Operation Troop Support.

Richard Jolitz: Legislature and Unions must work with Communities

In the early part of the twentieth century unions played a very important part in workers’ right and ensuring that employers did not take advantage of their workforce. They still have a role today to help protect workers and give them a voice in their workplace.  However, in the current extremely difficult economic climate, the unions, particularly the public sector unions, must realize that they might be about to kill the proverbial goose who lays the golden egg.

I work in a union shop in my everyday employment as an EMT.  I even became a Union Shop Steward to be a more active participant in protecting my fellow employees when in need but I also understand that as part of a union we, the workers, have to be willing to work with management to protect jobs.

Passage of the Arizona immigration bill has brought the subject of illegal immigration into the public limelight with new clarity.

Opposition to this legislation has even touched Massachusetts with the Boston City Council passing a boycott, followed by an attempt to do the same in Worcester. There can be little doubt of the polarizing nature of this subject when you see 125 people show up to protest in Worcester at that council meeting.
