Jim Pillsbury – Candidate for State Representative in the 6th Middlesex District

Video: Candidate Interview Jim Pillsbury

For more than 2 decades I have been helping to shape public policy. From the mid 80’s I was one of a handful of people who stood up to the D.A.R.E. program and exposed it’s failure in reducing drug use in the public schools. It took years, but funding was finally stopped. In the 90’s I worked on numerous campaigns, like Mandatory Minimums in drug sentencing and Medicinal marijuana. In 2000 I helped author and put on the ballot here in Framingham, the first Public Policy Question ever. The question, whether to decriminalize marijuana, was passed by 65% of those who voted for the Incumbent State Rep. That language was used in 2008 in Question 2, which passed by nearly 65% or almost 2 million voters.

Pam Richardson

There is a tight primary race between Pam Richardson and Chris Walsh. Both candidates are running on a platform of improving the ecomony, finding jobs in their district and revitalizing Framingham’s Downtown.

In the last election Chris Walsh almost unseated Richardson – coming within 138 votes. That election was a three way primary race with Dawn Harness. Given the anti-incumbent mood, and the removal of a third challenger, makes Walsh’s challenge becomes much stronger.

Pam Richardson

Pam Richardson was elected to the House of Representatives in 2006. Prior to being elected to the house she was Vice Chair of the Framingham School Committee and was a member of Framinham’s Town Meeting. She has two sons who currently attend Framingham public schools. She was appointed to the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government, the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight and the House Committee on Steering and Policy.
