PEMBROKE, MASS – The Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters has unanimously endorsed Josh Cutler for State Representative for the Sixth Plymouth District, Executive Director Lora Wondolowski announced this week.

“Josh recognizes that protecting the environment of this district is key to the vitality of the local economy and he has been a local leader who has fought to protect open space,” said Wondolowski. “A new leader like Cutler is sorely needed in the State House. ”

I am proud to be the Democratic nominee for State Representative for Pembroke, Duxbury, Hanson and Halifax.

The Democratic Party has a history of standing up for the little guy. Standing up for the middle class. For fiscal responsibility. I’m very proud to carry that banner on to November.

But let me also say this. I’m not running to be the representative of the Democrats. I’m running to be the representative for all the residents of our district.

We’ve seen too much partisanship from our current representative. We need to move away from the partisanship and get back in the business of problem solving.

Time to apply Open Meeting Law to State Legislature

In the wake of another lawmaker scandal the Massachusetts Legislature passed an update to the state’s Open Meeting Law that took affect in July. While the merits of this latest change are open to debate, the overall success of the Open Meeting Law is not.

Since it was first enacted in 1958, the Open Meeting Law has ensured that the people’s business is conducted in public. Meetings must be posted in advance, agendas and minutes must be made available and meetings must be conducted out in the open. For that reason the law is sometimes referred to as the “Sunshine Act” and it’s an apt metaphor. Good government, like a flower garden, requires sunshine to flourish.
